Darren Hayes Shares Heartache After Mother’s Death

Darren Hayes took to Instagram to do the daunting task of sharing the heartbreaking news of his beloved mother’s (Judy Hayes) passing with his fans:

“I am heartbroken to announce my beautiful, extraordinary, magnificent, wondrous Mother, Judy, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on January 17, 2025 in Brisbane, Australia.”

“I am absolutely devastated, as are her siblings, her grandchildren, my sister, our close family and all of her wonderful friends and anyone who knew her. She was the kindest person any of us knew and everything I know about love, I learned from her.”

Here is what he had to further say about his loss:

“I am not in the right frame of mind to have a conversation or engage in dialogue about this immense loss. Her presence in my life was the engine to my heart. But he appreciates the outpouring of empathy for my family and your appreciation for her.”

“We always had an invisible string, a magical connection that was unbreakable no matter where I was in the world. I like to imagine that string was a little bit like twine and she a beautiful balloon. The string has been cut and now my Mother has ascended to the heavens where she is forever young, beautiful and can finally breathe and is pain free. Even though she appears to have floated gently into the clouds above, our bond remains forever – perhaps now a connection made of glitter and stardust and wishes and love. My heart is broken but I’m so grateful she is finally at peace.”

Darren affectionately dedicated his memoir, released on November 5, 2024, to his mother, who played a significant role in supporting him throughout his life.

Here is what Darren said to his mom on her Birthday in September:

“Happy 79th Birthday (in Australia) to my beautiful mother, Judy. I dedicated my book to you – because you taught me everything there is to know about love and being a loving person. I’m so lucky my soul chose you in this lifetime.”

Kristin’s thoughts: I really love Darren’s analogy regarding the enchanting bond, the string that links him to his mother, and how he imagines her as a balloon that has floated up into the sky (to heaven). I can honestly empathize with Darren on the loss of his mother as I lost my mother to her battle with depression and anxiety back in 2011. I am a strong believer that death cannot separate us from the ones we love; I believe that Darren will one day be reunited with his lovely mum. I believe that I too will see my mom one day as well.
